    Hi Guys,

Just wondering when this should be done. Car is for a service and Kevin said he would check it for me.

The car has about 55,000 on the clock. Now with a Timing Belt, I'd rather be safe than not.

The next question would be cost involved. €400.00 was mentioned.

Having browsed online this does not seem extortionate but what do you guy think?

    Thanks

VW recommend either 120,000kms or every 48 Months.

Depends on what engine and model Passat as the passat changed in 05. Is your's the current shape Passat?

But as Drummerboy has said, most of them are 120000kms but some of the newer 2.0tdi's are pushed up to 150000kms.

Do you know your engine code, it's on a sticker in the service book or under the carpet in the boot. Should be something like BXE or ATD

    Hi Lads,

It is the older model highline estate. February 2005. 80,000 miles or thereabouts?

It should be good for another service or two then by the sounds of it? Maybe not if change every 4 years?

    Thanks!

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Based on the 4 year schedule, it is nearly a year overdue. €400 is a decent price for it, presuming the coolant pump is included. Go for it!

Thanks Unkel. I suppose the rubber just perishes so to speak over time irrespective of mileage?

As I said I'd always prefer to opt on caution when dealing with something like a timing belt!
