    Heya,

Just wondering if anyone can help me with the name of this compound: Cu0.6Zn0.4S?
I've to talk about it in a presentation and to read "Cu point 6 Zn point 4 S" each time it crops up seems like a bit of a mouthful!

    Cheers

    Brass? :)

But yeah, brass is the alloy of zinc and copper. In what context are you presenting information on this compound?

Hi - thanks for the reply.

Hmm I don't think that would be it - presenting a summary of a review paper on the annealing and light effects on properties of thin films - the above compound being one...
I'm thinking "Copper Zinc Sulfide" might do if I can't figure it out before that! No worries anyway - it's just presentation in front of my class so don't think they'll go too hard on me for not knowing the name :)

I'm no chemist, but don't think you're talking about a compound here.

Is it an alloy (mixture) or some sintered metal maybe?

Oops I totally didn't see the S at the end there, so brass is propbably wrong. Yeah, copper zinc sulphide sounds about right. Best of luck with the presentation!

Ah well then call it whatever you like! Keep calling it "Marypoppinite" or something ridiculous and see if anyone is listening to you! :p
