well gents, i want to make a jump starting trolley for uses on trucks and i have 2 12v batteries at my disposal.
Might seem a very simple/stupid question to some of you but am i right in thinking that if i connect the two 12v positives together and run the positive clamp of that and do the same for the negative, it will kick out the desired 24volts?

No that is twelve volts in parralell basically a big twelve volt battery.

For twenty four volts you connect the positive from one battery to the nagative on the other and your clamps off the other poles.
