Forgive my ignorance but what is the difference between PHECC and FETAC Level 5 module OFA training.

HSA require a certain no of OFA's in a workplace, and I presume that PHECC OFA would suffice but FETAC seems to be the norm. Is there a difference between the two. Looking at course content there seems to be little difference, is there a difference?

I think i've just read that HSA accept PHECC OFA but I would still like to know if there is a discernable difference in content.

    Thanks by the way.

FETAC award the qualification, oversee training/exams, i.e ofa, cfr etc
PHECC are the governing body, set down whats on course etc
OFAA are the governing body of OFA instructors
    afaik

PHECC have nothing to do with the OFA award, they only mention it in their documentation to give people an idea of where it rests on the education matrix.

It is the HSA who set out the content of the OFA course and the requirements that are attached to that.

FETAC are the certificate awarding body on behalf of the HSA.

The PHECC CFR course is a module of the OFA course which is accreditted by FETAC and set out by the HSA

So PHECC dont do OFA but their CFR instructors who are also HSA approved OFA instructors may teach OFA through a recognised group or organisation, effectively teaching to PHECC standards a module that they do not control or certify.

The natural progression within feck is from cfr to efr but you can take an intermediary step onto ofa with fetac. having been out of the first aid loop for a number of years i have been put through bls, cfr, now ofa and soon to do efr, three different orgs certifying, a multitude of acronyms. i thought feck was introduced to bring clarity to the situation.

anybody know what the typical fees are for cfr and ofa privately. i know several people who wish to do one or other but have no interest in joining voluntary orgs for "free" training.
