Designing Website (college project)

I hope this is the right thread. I've got to design a professional looking website for a college project. I've got a subject for it and a fuzzy idea on paper of how it will look. I'm just wondering if there is a package less complicated than Dreamweaver/Expression Web/FrontPage that would help. I know the basics of HTML just don't need all the bells and whistles that the three I mentioned have...?

If you know the basics of HTML, then Notepad would do the trick; or maybe something like Notepad++

Perhaps you can just use Dreamweaver in it's HTML view - and type the HTML manually. It's pretty good at that. Unfortunately the web moves so fast, that editors are still pretty basic.

If you want another basic HTML editor, then Notepad++, mentioned above, is open source and very good.

There's loads of free HTML editors (text based), Dreamweaver might be indeed a little heavy for what you need.

Now that everyone has agreed that Notepad ++ is amazing can anyone recommend any must have plugins?

I'm after adding the CSS Explorer (no idea why I never did this before) and I find the FTP and compare plugin very useful.

Is there anything I'm missing?
