I was just wondering if anybody had a job in Marketing to describe what they do.

I would like to specialise in this.

I have heard that many that do may end up in sales jobs:(

    Is this true?

    I have a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in marketing.

It's tough getting a job in it at the minute because when times are tough, companies cut costs, so they automatically trim areas they don't deem essential and marketing is usually the first place an accountant will tell you to cut costs.

It can be a catch 22 situation for the company because without marketing their business will not expand but spending too much on it and gaining no return will be disasterous for them.

A lot of people qualified in marketing do end up working in sales, I am only recently finsihed my masters and graduate in 2 weeks, I have a few marketing interviews currently ongoing and I have a sales job lined up for january if I want it.

It's not an easy profession to get into and the academic side to it is quite boring an a pain in the ass most of the time, but being in the work force, performing marketing tasks for companies, creating and implementing strategies and seeing your results come to fruition are great.
