03 Passat starting query?

    Hi all,

    have a 03 passat 130bhp DIESAL saloon, 120000 miles, an lately on some mornings, not all, it turns over for about 15 seconds before it starts whereas before it started spot on.

    Now I just had it serviced and had new glow/heating plugs put in, but again this morning it didn't start. I had to keep the engine turning and the car resembled an aul tractor trying to start, which it did with a puff of smoke! Misfired for a sec or two then fine.

    Once started, its perfect and on every restart during that day, seems to be just on cold starts.

    Any suggestion please much appreciated?

    Take it to a main vw dealer and hook it up to there dianostics machine,cost about €50. its well worth it..
