this happened to me 3wks in my new mondeo that was delivered in april. Had put oil in but not enough and missed first service interval by 17k, no warning light for me. Just a 4k bill so i guess ur 2.7k looks ok

You brought the car for its service 17k AFTER it was due? Why?! That's car cruelty right there.

It's not exactly unusual. A lot of people think the engine area is a sealed unit. Alternatively they think the car is powered by the Energizer Bunny.

On a side note, my brother sold his Bora a while back with the airbag light on. Not one prospective buyer commented on it.

well the light not gone but the oil level sensor must be

Too true, no real sympathy for people who don't check oil levels. It's something that should be checked at leat every week

i know i should have checked the oil but whats done is done just ask for a few names of places that do engines thats all

my last two cars had their first service interval at 40k so it was a question of not spotting in the manual that mondeo is 18k. There is no service light/indicator on the car and the oil light in most cars is just for oil pressure not level. Oh and i lived the nightmare, i dont need to be reminded again how dumb. Anyhew this aint my thread, back to OP

Try ivi engines, mulingar breakers, enfield breakers, kilcock car dismantlers.

wouldnt worry about it guys, you live and learn!

IVI engines are pretty good and the 2700 price you got for the engine sounds good imo.

best of luck getting them sorted.

The following have diesel Accords dismantled, don't know if engines still available:

    04-07 Cavan Fagan 049-436 5405
    06 Dempsey Ballina 096-45412
    05 Monaghan Atkinson 047-87247

Autobreak Limerick (061-311858) and Comerford Nenagh (067-25224) have selection of modern Accords scrapped, don't know if they have diesel one.

Anyone know where I'd get an engine for a 06 Astra 1.7 CDTi ? Have rang every breaker in south and north that I could think of.

As much as it pains me to say it due to their constant spamming of this here forum but I don't think you'll do much better than the price quoted by IVI

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 114 ✭✭kevez

thanks ppl for u help i appreciate it ill try them sean but i doubt they will have one apparently it happens to them alot according to all the ppl i have rang they say there is always someone looking for one of them

I hope all the people who routinely recommend the Accord over the Mondeo/Passat take note. Accord diesels lunching their engines is nothing new, I think the owners manual advises that you check the oil before each drive, that's Honda's way out of paying and it a feckin disgrace. It's a nice car but I wouldn't touch one.

I'd have a Honda any day over a Passat tbh, a superior car in every respect, Passat engines blow up too you know, it's all down to how well you look after it, well apart from Renaults, they just f**k-up anyway.:)

You have to appreciate the irony of a Renault-slagging sig in a thread peppered with imploding VW's and - SHOCK ! - a Honda ! :)

....and not a dci fubar in sight......:D

the price you were given for a 05 engine supplied and fitted seems resonable tbh

Have you tried Icetronix,Dublin,They had a diesel accord for breaking in recent weeks.

Unlucky man, live and learn I suppose. I'd say just keep ringing scrap yards and the like but 2700 for an 05 is probably good enough.
