Redundancy/Unemployment

I wasn't sure where was most appropriate to post this and was a little surpsied that there is no thread/category excluively devoted to the issue of redundancy and unemployment?

I'm researching people's experience of both these issues and would be really grateful if there were people who could help me perhaps?

To start with really I would be interested in posts from you if you were made redundant, and to hear a little about how it impacted on you, how you felt; whether it was experienced as being very personal; what assistance was available to help you cope; the kind of emotions you experienced and so on.

Additonally, I'd love your comments on how the process was handled, whether or not you were one or one of many; whether it was a shock or surprise; and whether it took effect immediately or following a time lapse and what it was like for you and your colleagues in between announcement and 'execution'.

Finally, why you believe that the company or organisation took the course it took?
