Problems: Timing Belt? Water Pump? Or What?!

Hey, just looking for a quick bit of advice or informatioin if anybody is in the know!

I'm driving a 95 Corsa B (only 96000 on it!). The car has been passed all the way down through the family and is in perfect condition, just passed NCT.

However last week I've been getting a high pitched screeching type noise from the car. Now I think I've noticed it's only in the low revs it happens, and generally only a while after starting the engine up.

As well as that, while in bumper to bumper stop-go traffic, very quickly the temperature seems to be shooting up, to nearly overheating. It's not until I can get moving freely on open road that it cools again.
But I can leave the engine running, with the car standing still and it wont start to overheat. It's only the short stop and go traffic that causes the problem. What's happening here?

I'm unsure as to what's going on here with these problems, so does anybody here have an idea what it might be? Really appreciate it!

    Thanks

check for loose belts and bearings,

overheating ? check for leaks and any pipes that might have fallen off by accident, check all the usual like coolant oil etc.

when you get a new timing belt (if you get the timing belt kit) it comes with the likes of the water pump too.

but i think the main thing to check for is loose bearing and belts.

Could be a few things. Screeching is most likely the aux belt (fan belt), the temp shooting up could be a few things, maybe your rad is shot or it could be a waterpump/ or thermostat. Have to get it looked at really.
