I know there is a bit of info on here on the new Ultegra but was wondering if anyone who has had it for a while would like to give an opinion.

I have seen reports about the internals being exposed and friction in the rear shifter cable being an issue. Anyone??

    Cheers P

I wouldn't have thought so with such a reputable brand as Shimano, and especially with such a high end groupset in their line. I put 6700 on my new TT bike (well f&r brakes and f&r derailleurs anyway) so maybe if you come back to me in a while I might be able to tell you, but you would probably be best off asking the Planet X Ultegra 6700 crowd or do a quick google search!

I have it on my winter bike for probably a few thousand km at this point and think it's very good. In some ways better than Dura Ace 7800, the brakes and leverage in particular. Front shifting on the compact seems very good too. Only real issue is that the hood shape has changed and effectively makes the reach to the hoods longer.

Haven't noticed any issues like you desribe.
