Any particular reasons why this would come on? It seems to be after driving for a while on the motorway it comes on. I read something about the coil?

it could come on for any number of reasons, air flow maybe, over heating?
Bring it into a ford dealers and they will diagnose the problem pretty quickly.

you dont need to go to a dealers, most independant garages have equipment to diagnose fords.
