DVD Player and MP3 files

    Hello there,

I'm experiencing a strange problem with my DVD player. Ok, first of all, it's not exactly a DVD player; to be precise, it's a Samsung HD Recorder and DVD Player/Recorder, model no: DVD-SH877

Anyway, I'm having a weird little problem with that. See, I compiled a DVD with over 400 songs on it in MP3 format, so when I'm entertaining I can simply stick in the one DVD, put it on random and it'll be playing all evening long without me having to change the disk and without it repeating itself.

But I noticed something strange after a while; it never played certain songs. And eventually I had a good look at it and I realised that when I loaded the DVD in the machine it only listed the first 217 songs.

Now 217 is a rather odd number; I wouldn't have thought it strange had it stopped at 255, for example, but still, maybe it just couldn't handle more than 217 songs for some strange reason. So I looked at the song list, culled a good few songs off it and produced a new DVD with only 216 songs on it.

But the strange thing is .... when I loaded that it only listed 119 songs.

Then I thought it might be a size thing, but I don't think so. The 217 songs that were displayed on the first DVD added up to just under 2,000 MB. The 119 on the second add up to less than 1 GB.

So I'm starting to suspect that there is something about certain MP3 files that makes listings like that just stop at them. So my question is: is anybody aware of such an issue? Is there something I should be looking for in MP3 files and avoid, in order to ensure that this doesn't happen on a Compilation DVD?

    Cheers

Have you tried putting your music files into different sub folders on the disc? You may have too many in the the one place.

Yeah, looks like that might be the reason. In the end, I just copied as many as I could on to the HDD, then copied more on another disk, until I had them all on the HDD. It has no problem listing them when they're on the HDD. Nuts. Thankfully disks are cheap XD
