Lost Key, No Spare, What to do???

    Hi All,

I have just misplaced the key to my car and have no spare. (the car is locked).

I believe I can open up the door and take out the ignition and the key barrel for the door. After this, I would think I could just replace both car parts.

Is this all I can do or does anyone know any other options that I haven’t thought of? (eg is there a way to mould a new key without replacing any parts)

(NOT looking for advice on how to break into a car).

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks In Advance for all responses.

You will have to give a few details on car model and year.
Newer cars have more anti-stealy devices!

If you bring you vehicle registration cert to a main dealer, they can make a key for your car.

Happened to me last year, was a nightmare, volvo came and lifted my car back to the garage where they ordered in and programmed a new key. Cost me the guts of €500 :(
Turned out my key had been handed in to the shop beside me who knew it was mine but 'forgot' to tell me they had it

Bring your drivers license/Passport and your Registration book into the manufacturer of the vehicle dealership and they will be able to sort the rest for you.
Might not be a bad idea to get them cut you a second key aswell, but maybe not with a keyfob ect...
