    Hi
have a pal living here from states. He uses his MAC with no obvious probs over here. When he goes home next he's offered to pick me up one. Can anyone see any problems with this before I go ahead? The savings will be quite a lot which makes it very tempting?!

    Thanks
    C2

Warranty shouldn't be an issue - its a global warranty.
The only issue should be the plug adapter as was said already.

I bought my MacBook Pro in New York in 2008. Warranty is no problem at all :)

Works like a dream...check out the Mac forum if you need any more help :)

Are you getting a laptop or desktop machine?

Sorry, what about the keyboard- is the irish keyboard different from the US one?

Yes the layout is slightly different. Its still a QWERTY keyboard but some of the symbols will be in different locations.

Ask your friend to get you a laptop bag as well. Then get him to unbox the laptop and put it and the discs and cables into the laptop bag. I say that because it's much more comfortable for him to carry it through the airport...not because it's easier for him to avoid scrutiny from customs. I'm sure you'll declare it as soon as you get it and pay the appropriate taxes.

Layout is only slightly different but you get used to it quickly enough. All the letters are in the same place as gandalf said, the @ symbol is above the number two...stuff like that.

All Mac Laptop adapters are Dual Voltage 110-240. Just change the plug, either with a regular adapter or the Mac one (it is interchangeable)
