    Hello,

Is there anyway to block a channel on UPC?

Not just "age block" content but completely lock access.

    Cheers

On UPC-branded boxes you do it as follows:

    1. Press "Guide"
    2. Press green
    3. Press OK
    4. Highlight the channel you want to lock
    5. Enter your PIN and press OK.

Now whenever you want to change to that channel, you'll be prompted to enter your PIN. Obviously it is a good idea to set your PIN to something other than "0-0-0-0" if you are going to this.

NTL boxes also have this capability but its been so long since I used one that I've forgotten how you do it, but it should be labelled "Parental Controls" or suchlike. I've only briefly used a Chorus box once so I have no idea whether it is possible to do it on these boxes.

Thanks. I want to block that ejit on the info channel.

the box is giving trouble and often jumps to that station when I change the channel.

    That might make it worse.
When it jumps to that channel, you may have to enter the password to leave it again.

    Eh, nope?

Only thing is that even if you do block the Info channel, if you do "accidentally" land on it, you'll still get a couple of seconds of the effers voice before the block kicks-in

The new boxes have that problem I think. I seem to remember a lot of people complaing about it when they were trying to lock that Angels channel or whatever it is called.

How that issue happens is if you are slow in entering the no.of the channel you want to watch, or if you enter the no. incorrectly. The box will default to the Info channel or the nearest numbered channel of the channel you wanted to see. IMO they shouls shove the Info ch and the City ch out to the 800's.
