    Hey

I'm a regular online poker player and kinda irregular real world player. Online i play alot of SnG and Tournies and Real World alot of tournies along with the odd cash game in college.

So anyway, myself and my mate are looking to branch out into cash games (NLHE) in Dublin, but we have no details as to what kinda games are running.

So could people please shed some light on where we might go for the best game? When the games are normally kicking, what kinda blinds are we looking at, what are the minimum buy-ins etc?

I had a quick search and couldn't find much info on these all in one thread.

    Cheers lads.

from what I know, the standard-ish game is a 1/2 blinds with 50euro minimum buy in. PLO/NLHE/Round-of-each

Very good 1-2 and 2-5 no limit holdem, Omaha and round of each game every wednesday in the Poker Room Celbridge.

    Reduced Rake.
    Double cash hours
    Free poker massage
    Free Chineese Buffet.

Its a true no limit game, we don't cap buy ins and there is lots of action in the room. Usually 3-5 cash tables every Wednesday.

If you need directions or have questions please give me a call,

    Many thanks

    Hi Ross,

Yes your rake is reduced on a wednesday night from it's normal 5% capped at €25 to 5% capped at €20. But this is not good value either.

I have a question is it true that you still rake side pots for the max aswell?

Why wouldnt they rake a side pot? 5% is standard. dont say you have a question, just ask your question. the hangover is affecting the mood!!

5% with a 25€ cap is certainly not standard for a club rake. That rake is unbeatable in a 1-2 game and probably a 2-5 game also.

Any casino rake i am aware of apart from the eglinton is 5%. Can you mention a couple casinos and let us know their rake... if you get a good 1/2 Late night game where most ones stack of with middle 2 pair then i wouldnt worry too much about the difference between a 3-5% rake... as always you get what you pay for... whats this about massages at the table?

It doesn't matter what standard of play is there the house is raking the guts out of the game.
My local clubs charge €8pph 5€ cap on pots and 5% 10€ cap.
As regards the dublin clubs most seem to charge per hour @ a reasonable rate.

I've no problem with them raking a side pot at all.

I do have a problem with them raking each side pot to the max.

I played in the poker room in Tallaght a few times (was ran by the same person, Ross).

A pot occured that had a main pot and 2 side pots with circa €1300, €1500 and €650 in each one. The dealer raked €25 from each pot:eek: for a total rake of €75 for one hand:confused:

Now I ask you is this normal practice, because I have never seen that done anywhere.

2.1% total rake there which aint bad but if there is an advertised cap then that should be the max total for one hand. didnt understand what you mean as im used to just having a certain percentage raked (no cap) and move on, jumping to the other side of the fence now:)

The reduced rake on Wednesday is 4% capped at €20 or a table charge if
its a bigger game 2/5 or above.

The maximum per hand is €20.

With all the freebies thats probably the best value around but it depends what you like.

Sorry table charge of 15 per hour per player on a 2/5 game and €20 per hour on a 5/10 game. (These are usually very meaty games.)

Most out of town casinos rake at the 5% capped mark.

Cant remember a pot with those specifics in Tallaght, who was in the hand?

They also tend to be 8 or 9 handed Omaha games with average stacks in the 2-5K range.

what freebies do the lowly 1/2 players receive apart from booze:)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 698 ✭✭✭Sirtoyou

Fair neck to call anything a freebie at those rake rates.
