Just opened my macbook pro there to a blank screen, rebooted a few times but no luck. Fortunately or unfortunately, it doesn't work through on an external display either so I assume the GPU has died?

Found this on the Apple site which may be of some help - http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2377?viewlocale=en_US&locale=fr_FR

Has anyone ever had any similar to this issue and how long will I be without my mac as I need it for work and college?

edit: just saw the thread below relating to a similar issue...

One thing I need to know is how to backup by time machine without the mouse (due to the blank screen)?
