What does anyone else make of the race today?

Madison de Burlais, last seasons Henessy, AON, and Betfair Bowl winner, as well as Notre pere, last seasons Welsh National and Guinness Gold Cup winner, both beaten by almost a fence.

Kauto Star, probabely only 90% fit and yet he manages to quash the efforts of an Imperial Commander who has probabely improved a stone since winning the Ryanair. It reminded me of Desert Orchid and Panto Prince, even though I wasn't around at the time.A true champion if he wasn't one already.

He was already a champion.Madison de Berlais certainly would have hated that ground and you'd expect him to be a bit closer to Kauto Star.Imperial Commander is certainly a classy individual but today was probably the best chance he'll get this year to beat KS.That said if he goes for the King George maybe he can put it up to him again.Notre Pere is a probably 10lbs shy of competing with genuine Grade 1 horses. He may pick up another one in Ireland where he'll have a couple of good fights with The Listener.
