Leak in drivers side footwell

I've got a Hyundai Accent Coupe (99 reg). The other day I found a small pool of water just under the pedals after it had rained all night.

I've checked the seal on the drivers side window is intact, and the weather proof seal on the door is fine also.

From what I can tell, the water is getting in through the pollen/air filter just under the windscreen wipers. I don't have the tools to take the grille off to see if there's just debris stuck under there preventing the rain water from draining the normal way. I've blocked off this grille with duck tape and plastic sheeting to prevent more water entering the footwell.

Is this going to be very expensive to fix?

if it's not a huge amount id live with it as it could be expensive relative to the cars worth. Make sure all the drain channels are clear on all seals though

How can I "live with it", it will cause a huge amount of rust!

I can't see where the drain channels are. Going to have to do some more googling or buy the Haynes manual tomorrow..

I don't know where the pollen filter is on yours, but if it's exposed make sure it's sealed properly. Even get some silicone and stick it down so no water gets in. Silica gel sacha's are great for absorbing mosture if you can get them.

Did you try looking around the roof or the drivers side door pillar along the windscreen also??

Take out the seats and up the carpet if possible and run a hose on it to see where its coming in.

Yeah, tried that and the seals look fine. The seats aren't wet...nothing is wet apart from directly under the pedals. There's no wetness anywhere near the door.

Well I duck taped plastic over the scuttle panel+pollen filter yesterday evening so hopefully if the car is dry now that will point to the problem without having to rip seats out :-) Am just going to check it now...had a bit of a lie-in today :o
