    Hey Guys

I'm really confused !I don't know a whole lot about all of the rules but I usually know when a match is about to end after the 80 mins mark and the phase of play is finished. But how come the Fiji/Ireland match went on to 92 minutes even after a couple of line-outs and even a substitution after the 80 mins?????

Was the TV clock wrong or am I missing a big trick ???

It was because of Leamy's injury stoppage I would assume.

They weren't stopping the on-screen clock when the referee called time off.

Yeah normally the TV clock follows the Stadium one but in this case it didnt. Do have a general gripe about how referees dont call time quickly enough. Also with slow lineouts, ritual re-setting of scrums and lack of urgency at the back of rucks, there seems to be less actual game time than ever before.

Yep, as I thought. It was just strange that none of the commentators made any mention of it. I thought I had really lost my bearings on the game !! I think this is the first time I have seen a clock out of synch' with what was going on. Phew:D

    Thanks guys !

Are you referring to the actual clock at the RDS? That one doesn't stop at all. It gets people going for pints early at half-time every time!

Nope, the clock on the BBC feed wasn't being stopped at all (which was typically amateurish of BBC NI).

The RTE clock is stopped by the TMO (or the techie beside him) in the OB truck. BBC should have been able to use RTEs clock, no idea why they wouldn't have

RTE on screen clock was running perfectly in synch, stopped when time off was called.

There are two clocks in the RDS, one is part of the scoreboard and is used for games where the clock is not stopped (ie Magners). The other one is attached to the top of the scoreboard, has a white frame with orange numbering. This one is stopped when the referee calls time off, and is used for the Heineken Cup games and was in use for the Ireland game at the weekend. RTÉ's clock did correspond with this, I checked it a couple of times while watching the game.
