A couple of itouch questions

    Hey,
I have a couple of questions about the itouch that I hope to get some help on. I have a 32gig 2nd gen itouch.

First about the battery, I was playing music for a while today while driving and the battery meter seemed to stay almost at at a full charge for quite a while. Then when I got home I was messing around with some apps, installing new apps, browsing the web and so on. During this time (1.5-2 hours) the battery seemed to deplete quite quickly, going from an almost full charge to maybe 25%. Is this normal for it to drop so quickly from app usage?

Secondly, often the unit seems to freeze up. Maybe one in every ten times of using it. It only happens when I'm actually navigating the device, rather than in the middle of a song when I'm not touching it. What could be the cause of this?

    Thanks for any help!

Not sure about the freezing, but I'd say the battery is ok to me. There's only 3/4 different ways the battery icon in the top right can show how full the battery is, so even if it looked full it may have been at around 80% or so after your driving. Going from that to 25% after nearly 2 hours of constant internet usage would be about right I'd say.

What you should do is download this free app called "Free Battery" which will give you a thorough breakdown of the battery usage remaining, such as the exact percentage it's at, number of hours left for internet browsing, standby etc.

Cheers. I would have thought the unit would be able to support more than just a couple of hours of internet usage and stuff, but I'm glad to hear that the battery is still good.

I downloaded the Free Battery app, but it only tells me how many hours remaining for music and for video. No sign of readings for remaining internet usage and so on, I'm guessing you'd have to pay for an app that shows all that.

    Thanks

On iphone it does show remaining internet usage on wifi and 3g, and no you don't have to pay see this.

Ah that's the problem. I'm using an iPhone too, I just assumed it'd be the same for an iPod Touch.

Can I recommend another battery app, "Battery - Themes FREE"? No ads, it shows a percentage plus estimated battery life for Music, Video, Internet Wi-Fi and Gaming.

I tried "Free Battery" and it popped up an ad which said something like "HAVE YOU TRIED THIS PRAYER?". Do Not Want.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

Tried and it's way better, thank you. Also allows you to slide to view the rates for different chargings for their estimated remaining times, rather than only displaying the current charge.

Internet over wifi is very energy intensive. Actually thing about what you are doing compared to simple listenign to music)
Turn off wifi when not using it to save battery life.

I'm downloading about 3 or 4 battery apps, i'll let you know which is best for the touch, as some don't show all the feature of the iphone version (I can understand 3G or edge, but what not show wifi)

I went a bit overboard, I currently have 21 battery apps on the ipod.

I'll give them all a shot and come back with the top 5 or 3

I'm not going to review them, if its crap or annoying, it'll just get deleted
