Aquagoggles question

Thinking of taking up swimming but have terrible eyesight. On aquagoggles they need to know the "diopter" of your eyes. I checked the box of my contact lenses and they have "R:7.0 and L:7.5" written on them.....is this the diopter?

Also for "L:7.5" there's no option for this in the drop down box. There's only 7 or 8...I think I need to choose 7 but am not sure. I've emailed them but got no reply.

You should use your glasses prescription, rather than your contacts one, for swimming goggles. Basically, they are not quite the same because of the difference in distance between the lens and your eye. You can request this from your optician if you don't have it already. If the numbers are not even ones, they will probably be able to advise you on whether to round up or down (i.e. for 7.5 choose 8 or 7).

You are right about the dioptre figures, but make sure you add a - before each one if you are short sighted, or a + if you are long sighted. If you're not sure, or it's not on the prescription, check this with the optician too.

I got a pair of goggles from these, the link below helps you to work out your prescritption for the goggles from a prescrition on your contacts (i wasn't bothere ringing my optician)

I personally have -6.25 and -5.75 with a astimagtism of 0.25 (or someth like that) so my prescrition wasn't exact but for the purposes of swimming they were perfect as my only other options were swimming completely blind or swimming wearing contacts, neither of which are nice.

    Hope this helps
