Looking at carbon road bikes at the moment - mostly window shopping. Planet X seem to be best value going but Canyon pretty good too and probably higher spec. What reckon ye? Anyone own a Canyon?

    I own both a canyon and a planet X.
My canyon is aliminium and the planet x is carbon.
THe components on the canyon are higher spec:durace + FR racing 1's.
Ultegra and Mavic equipes on the px.
I love both bikes but the canyon is my racing bike, its increibly light, stiff and responsive- maybe not as comfy as the px, but if I wanted comfort I would buy a mountain bike.
You can t go wrong with either It depends on what you intend using it for.

Crumliniano - I cycle with lag behind Doovery on our weekly spin & I have to say that his Canyon is a savage bike. Amazing value.

I like the Planet X & some great reviews from many of the punters on here, but IMO his Canyon is a piece of German perfection.

Doovery's Aluminium is as light as anyone would need, but looking at some of their higher spec Aluminium & Carbon bikes - you can go very light indeed!!

I am putting my pennies aside to buy a Canyon myself.

@dooverylittle Is it an Ultimate AL rather than a Roadlite you have? I've been eyeing up the Canyon road bikes for a while now. I'm not into racing so I don't know whether the extra yoyos on the Ultimate AL would be worth it in my case.

    Thanks.

Ye its an ultimate AL 8.0. (Wheels were an upgrade). I somtimes feel like i am cheating on big climbs.
Maybe the carbon canyon is incredible I havent tried it. But the geometry is the same as the AL as far as i am ware. Most of the awards/reviews i have seen are for the AL.
