Munster already have scored a try, from Cusack after Felix Jones beat 4 defenders.

Munster should win at a canter and will be a great experience for our youngsters.

One Coventry player that Munster will be familiar with is scrum half Mike Walls. Originally from Mullingar he played under-age representative rugby with Leinster before spending three seasons with Conncht where he won 23 Celtic League caps.

First half tries from Duncan Williams, James Coughlan and Tom Gleeson and a second half bonus point score from lock Ian Nagle helped Munster to a 20-13 win against Coventry in the Butts Stadium.
Munster were given the ideal start when Duncan Williams crossed for a try after just four minutes and things got even better when skipper James Coughlan scored a second in the 15th minute. The home side clawed their way back into the game and dominated territorially and out-half Joe Carlisle reduced the deficit with a penalty after a good break by Ollie Winter forced Munster to stray offside.
Just before half-time, off the top lineout ball was spread wide for Tom Gleeson to score in the corner and Ian Nagle scored their bonus point try shortly after the restart.
Coventry who had been guilty of poor defence in the opening half scored two push-over tries in the second half, the second after six minutes of added time to claim a bonus losing point.

Probably a mixture of both. Shame Manning is injured.

Good to see Nick Williams back playing. Poor lad just cant catch a break due to injuries.

Ulster had a comfortable win at home to Bedford and included some 1st XV players. Ian Humphreys (Ireland 'A last week) was on the bench!

Following Bristol's 21-16 victory over Nottingham yesterday, Munster require just one point from next Friday's Musgrave Park clash with Heriots to advance to the semi-final of the British & Irish Cup.
That win leaves Bristol top of the table, one point ahead of Munster. In the event that both sides end up with the same points 18, Munster will advance to the semi-final by virtue of their win over Bristol when the sides met in Nenagh RFC.
Already through to the semi-finals are Doncaster Knights and Cornish Pirates who ended Leinster's hopes when they defeated Newport 26-20 in Camborne yesterday.

The final place in the semis will go to either London Welsh or Ulster Ravens. Welsh have completed their programme and are on 20 points, four ahead of Ulster. The Ravens are home to Aberavon in their final game where a win will see them go through.

The British & Irish Cup semi final draw will be made on Wednesday, March 24th. The 1st and 3rd teams drawn will receive home advantage in the semi finals that will be played on the weekend of April 24th.

Interesting to see how this comp goes from here on out where it starts to get really interesting, will Munster resist the urge to play some of the fringe senior players and keep faith in the guys who've got them to this point? I know some guys like Holland and O'Donnell have played a bit for the A's this season though.

Imo, Kilcoyne, Nagle, Peter O'Mahony could be breaking into the Munster senior team sooner rather then later. Interesting to see if Cusack can step up to ML level, would love to see him make it just becuase it's a good signal to everyone in the AIL that if you're good enough you'll get a chance.

It defeats the purpose of the competition playing first choice players imo.

Also unfair on the other teams, who are clubs or lower league teams without massive European sides like Leinster or Munster to draw players from.

Connacht can barely field one team let alone two. Would you rather they played in this then the ML?

Anthony Foley should have his full British & Irish Cup squad available when he sits down with Ian Costello to select the side for the final Pool game against Heriots in Musgrave Park on Friday night (7.30pm).
Foley and Costello just need to run the rule over those players who picked up niggly injuries in both AIB and Magners League matches at the weekend before deciding on the match day squad. Munster currently lie second in the table, one point behind Bristol but know that if they finish level with the English side, they'll advance to the semi final by virtue of their win in Nenagh RFC.
Included in the 27 strong squad are Ian Nagle, Billy Holland, Nick Williams, Duncan Williams and Scott Deasy who were all involved in the Munster Magners League squad last weekend in Newport.

Fantastic achievement for a bunch of young guys, guys like Cusack had only played AIL before this season (not even Munster schools, afaik).

A Connacht team would be well above the standard of this trophy (look at the Amlin cup to see this).

Munster will have home advantage when they take on Ulster in the semi final of the British & Irish Cup scheduled for the weekend of 23-25th April.

The draw for the semi finals took place this morning in Cardiff and the winners of the Munster/Ulster clash will travel to England to play the winners of the Cornish Pirates/Doncaster Knights semi final.
That final takes place on Sunday May 16th at 6pm and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports HD.

I had hoped the final would be in Ireland.

IMO the B&I Cup has proven to be a great comp for young players like O'Mahony to gain experience.
