    Hi,

Can anyone recommend a good brand to purchase?

    Thanks,

    Hi Colm

I do not know of any alcohol free champagnes. There are some nice fizzy drinks around. Is it for something in particular. The African shop near me does a cheap sparkling fruit drink that comes in a champagne like bottle. Not sure if that is exactly what your looking for though.

Dunnes Stores used to do a sparkling white that was either alcohol free or had a very low alcohol content. Can't remember it's name though so not much help to you :o

Maybe just give them a run through to have a check.

Friend of mine usually has Champagne for breakfast on Christmas morning but can't this year due to her medication, so I thought I'd try get her some Alcohol Free Champers.

Some possible alternatives are schloer and ame. I will check in the African shop tomorrow to get a name on their sparkling fruit drink.
M&S I think is the best place to have a wander around. They are the most likely place to have a posh fizzy drink which is roughly what your looking for.

The only non-alcoholic sparking wine that i know of is Carl Jung, a German wine. Its actually quite nice. Most off licences/supermarkets will do it for between 8 to 10 euro. Maybe there is non-alcoholic champagne available, but i am not aware of any. I think your best bet is to contact a specialist shop like Eno or The Corkscrew in Dublin for this type of wine.

Are you sure it was the sparkling that was €4.99? That sounds very very cheap! I would have thought that was the price for the non-alcoholic red/white. When i worked in Dunnes in 2006 it was €6.49.

Shloer is lovely stuff but more a wine substitiute than an alcohol free wine, though I would prefer shloer on christmas morning!

To be called champagne it must come from the region, so I doubt they would waste good champagne by stripping alcohol out.

I think it might be worth asking in the "non drinkers group" forum.

    Thanks Rubadub,

My only knowledge of champagne comes from watching Wayne's World. So really I'm looking for something with the taste/texture of Champers without the alcohol content.

I'll ask the non drinkers, thanks.

No definitely 4.99 and around 2006 too but possibly 2005 and could of been Tescos but I thought Dunnes, here in Galway.
