I didn't really get too many new releases this year, maybe just 15 or so so far. In no particular order:

    Old Season - Archaic Creation
    For Ruin - Last light
Redemption - Snowfall On Judgement Day
    Kylesa - Static Tensions
Heaven And Hell - Devil you Know
    Amorphis - Skyforger

    Still Need to get this.
Paradise Lost - Faith Dives Us, Death Unites Us

Have this sitting beside me all week, still haven't given it a spin yet.

Year ain't over yet. I've high hopes for Circle of Contempt and Enfold Darkness.
But as of now I'd say this.

Between The Buried and Me - The Great Misdirect :D
    Isis - Wavering Radiant
    Kalisia -Cybion
    Amorphis - Skyforger
    Hacride - Lazarus

    And honourable mentions go to:
    Obscura - Cosmogenesis
    Animals As Leaders - S/T
    Exivious - S/T
    Persefone - Shin-Ken
    The Contortionist - Apparition
Cloudkicker - The Map is Not The Territory
    Insomnium - Across The Dark
    Russian Circles - Geneva
    Baroness - The Blue Record

I've heard quite a lot of albums this year :pac:

    Them Crooked Vultures-S/T
    Pearl Jam-Backspacer
    Porcupine Tree-The Incident
Dream Theater-Black Clouds & Silver Linings
    Mastodon-Crack The Skye

Haven't actually heard all of AIC's new one, but that'd prob replace Mastodon if/when I do. Also, Muse would be bashing away at a place there.

Of the albums from this year (so far) that I heard:

Alice In Chains - Black Gives Way To Blue
Placebo - Battle For The Sun
    Them Crooked Vultures - S/T
U2 - No Line On The Horizon
    Pearl Jam - Backspacer

    Honorable mention towards:

    Spinnerette - S/T

Muse -The Resistance - an album that I liked but I found it more like background music and not something I could immerse myself in.

Generally though 2009 was a great year for rock music. It really felt like proper and consistent albums were being released.

Hard to pick, kinda changes depending on my mood, but I'll take a stab at it.

Hypocrisy - A Taste of Extreme Divinity
Nile - Those Whom the Gods Detest
Paradise Lost - Faith Divides Us - Death Unites Us
    For Ruin - Last Light
    Insomnium - Across the Dark

Special mentions also have to go to:

Gorgoroth - Quantos Possunt ad Satanitatem Trahunt
    Amorphis - Skyforger
    Behemoth - Evangelion
    Ensiferum - From Afar

Yeah, a fairly standard list. Havn't listened to too many new albums this year, mostly older stuff.
