Wireless issues and ringtone questions

    Hi,.

I now own an iPHone, via O2. It's shiny and nice and appears to be working.

    However.

    [wireless connection problems solved]

    Any thoughts?

    2) Ringtones. There are instructions for creating ringtones from music in your iTunes library which are fine and dandy except that Windows Vista does not appear to want to let me do the file rename from w4m to w4r. I wind up with something called XYZ.w4r.w4m

This is not getting imported to the phone as a ringtone but as a 13 second piece of music in the music library.

I'm quite happy to pay for 2 or three various ringtones. I don't find the options in iTunes for Ireland. Am I missing something or are we just not able to buy them? You search ringtones in iTunes I wind up with an album of lousy ringtones. I just want 2 or 3 to differentiate a handful of friends. After that, could not care less.

You can get tons of ringtones via cydia. You have to jailbreak your iphone first. There a tutorials out there. Try the sticky one ^_^

    1) none of the tutorials worked. While I could generate a ringtone file, neither synching nor drag and drop would get it onto the iPhone.

    2) the iPhone is brand new. I've no desire to jailbreak it. Nor is it necessary.

For anyone else with this problem, there is a bit of freeware called iringer which will generate ringtones from non-DRMd music in your iTunes library. It works and it is extremely easy. You can find it at iringer.net. I am using a brand new iPhone 3GS and iTunes 9.0.2.

I am posting in case anyone else has the problem.
