I got a taxi to work this morning; I'm fairly sure I left my iPod beside me on the seat. I picked up the taxi at a rank (i.e. didn't call it) and I can't remember the registration number of the car.

Does anyone have an uber creative way of me recovering said iPod?!

    Ring the carriage office

Ring the taxi office and tell them you've hidden a bomb in one of their taxis. The bomb is in the shape of an ipod and is set to go off if the taxi exceeds 80km/h.

Do you remember the colour/make of car and what the driver looks like? might be worth going to that same rank tomorrow morning, maybe stick around for an hour, see if he shows up.

Taxi was at the Stephen's Green rank (in Dublin!)

Hanging about in the morning may be a good idea - it was a big grey people carrier so should be spottable...spotable...easy to spot!

What in the hells is the carriage office?

Can't seem to find a decent site about it but basically it's where taxi drivers turn in stuff they find in their cabs.

Taxi regualtor. They're responsible for issueing licences, checking prcies and resolving disputes. DOn't know if they do lost property, but if they don't they'll know who does.
    Tel 666 9864

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Even if there was some merit to this ignorant statement, its more likely the next person in the car picked the ipod up and not the driver.

In future stick your mobile number on your stuff. I did that with a wallet and a taxi driver phoned me after I left it behind. Was €120 in cash in the wallet at the time too.

a licence to queue? That's a new one on me lol I've been driving a cab 3 years and anyone can rank up there

op the reality is if it was a people carrier it's more than likely gone chances are the next customer jumped in and nicked it. Most drivers don't bother checking there rear seats

    McGuyver is another option ;)

Garda Carriage Office... good luck with that. I left a camera in a taxi last month and rang them that Monday, no joy.

You are relying on the good people of Dublin to hand the ipod to the driver when they see it in the taxi, then you are relying on the driver handing it in to the Garda Carriage Office. The odds don't look good.

Dont taxi drivers just keep all the stuff that they find in the back of their cabs? Isnt it a perk of the job??

My Dad is a taxi driver and he is forever finding stuff that people left behind, phones are easy because they will normally ring and he can drop them off but he did find an Ipod once that he handed into the Carriage office but they gave it back to him after a year and a day as it wasn't claimed.

Once a woman left a bra in the back of her car but she was an oul wan and he wouldn't touch so he sent me out to retrieve it from the back of the car. It had holes where the nipples are (although he said she old enough that they were at her knees). Another time a blind woman left a bag of excrement in the car, funnily enough she didn't claim it.

Ok, let's go over this one more time.

    Bluetooth. Memory loss signal enabled.

Have a root around my cheek, I have a feeling you might find my tongue.
