Public Sector workers have voted to hold a 1 day strike on Tuesday 24th, in protest at proposed salary cuts. Teachers are included.

It may be called off at the last minute, if an agreement between the unions and the government is made, but I wouldn't count on it.

Can't wait. We got out early today because there was no clean water in the school due to the flooding.

a lot of the badly flooded places arent having the strkies because they need the workers to help the clean up.

Most people I know are abosolutly terrified of the prospect of going on strike on Tuesday and they just can't afford to lose a days pay when most of them are now the sole earner in the household. A day of strike leads to a lot of savings for the government.......

It is all set. It will be extremely difficult for everyone. But I guess there is no where without a crisis of some sort so we will get through this and again and again if it recurs..........

Yep, December the third. Conveniently the day of my PTM. :D:D:D

What's wrong with the people deciding these strikes? All they're doing is giving the government extra money.

I mean, if I was Brian Cowen, I'd be ****ing terrified of people taking one day off... so scared to comply with their demands. Who thinks this? The only way things will change if they don't go back to work until their demands are met. Which the can't do, otherwise they'll starve to death.

    Idiocy...

If you are in a Catholic School - the 8th is a holy day.

    You would be off anyway.
