    Hey all

I'm just throwing this out there to see what experiences people have had in the benefits scheme, JSA or JSB whatever.

I went today to try an apply for either/or. I've been out of work 2 months now, one of the reasons i didnt apply sooner is i thought i as good as had a job...

anyway the main reason i put off going is because i was expecting little to no help and to made feel like crap...and i was right!

I know i have enough prsi payments etc, ive been working constantly for the past 6 years or something. my beef is the attitude of the person i was dealing with... I know theres some type of protcol to put people off continuesly signing on or something but I was made feel so small, basically i felt like a scumbag for even trying to apply.. I have to go back tomorrow with proof ive been looking for work... but tbh If i get this kind of attitude again i have to say something..

To me this seems to sadly be the norm, i tried to apply years and years ago and got the same kind of treatment, so much so that i said **** it and never even collected any allowence.

The people working in the Social Welfare office are doing their job and have no thoughts whatsoever about you and are making no judgements. Some, like in any group of people, will be kinder/better communicators than others. It's the luck of the draw and don't waste any energy on that account. Go in, find out what they need from you so that they can identify your entitlements and facilitate you accessing them, note what they request and supply it to them and that will be that. I know it can be stressfull and invasive so, if you can, take someone along with you who'll be good for a chat and a laugh while you are waiting in the queue. You are not begging. You are claiming your entitlements, like hundreds of thousands of others and, fingers crossed, the day will come when lots of people will have jobs again and the happy happy task of signing off! Good luck!
