Shot Routine

As with anything, routine helps consistency and nowhere else is that more apparent than in the golf shot, so what's your routine?

I eye up the yardage, pull out my chosen club and take 1 practice swing. I then stand behind the ball and pick an intermediary target 1-2 ft in front of my ball. I then keep an eye on this target (usually a leaf or some soil) and walk back and line my club head up behind my ball and in line with the intermediary target. I keep my feet together. I then widen my stance and keep it parallel to my target line. I then take a look at my target followed by a last look at my intermediary target. I waggle the club slightly whilst also finding my feet. Strike.

I like to keep it simple. So many people take 3 practice swings or stand over the ball for 10 seconds.

I only started using alignment techniques this year and they've really improved my game.

Alignment and pre-shot routines are more important than many people think. If you can repeat this then you have a good chance of repeating a good swing.
