    Hi,

Has anyone ever ordered GHD Straightners from Ghdfactoryoutlet.net. If you have how long did it take to receive the goods, was there any duty/vat to be paid.

I ordered 2 ghd straightners(€100) from them on 6/11, sent an e-mail to them on 16/11 to see if they had been shipped. They replied telling me that the had been shipped through company called DPEX.com and they gave me a shipment no. so I could track it thru DPEX.com. Today when I checked I got a message 'No tracking information exists for this consignment' contact customer services in your area, from a drop down menu on DPEX website it said my local agent was early bird couriers in Dublin, rang them and the said they're not agents for DPEX anymore. By the way Dawn my bank statement said brandflatirons.

My partner ordered GHD straiteners from here. They were eventually received, but were faulty.

After several attempts to get a replacement:
    - we were offered £6 to repair them (nowhere near enough);
    - they offered a replacement, if we sent them back, recorded delivery, to China! This would have cost >£60 and they wouldn't agree to reimburse this.

After contacting GHD, we found they were fake and after this "emily" at customer support closed down any contact with us.

Your only recourse is going to be with the credit card company - you have to contact them and tell them it was an illegal site, holding itself out to be a UK site; it has no contact address and the goods are fake.

Regardless of what the stooge at the end of the phone says, you will have a right to get a refund from the credit card company - a letter to customer care and the MD helped in our case.

I ordered some ghd's from this site last friday and became suspicious straight away when I did not receive the e-mail comfirmation!

All through this week I have tried to contact them either through the website or by phone to no reply.

And today the website no longer exsists!!! on checking my bank statement the payment was taken by Brandflatirons!!!!

After putting this into my seach engine I found this forum and I now realised I have been screwed!!!!

I contacted by bank (HSBC) and there is hope you can get your money back, they will send you out a declaration that you fill in to say what happenend if you have a comfirmation or printout of the order even better and they will apply to have the money returned from the companys bank account, thats if they haven't already closed it and done one!

I have resounded myself to losing £50 if i get some back it will be a bonus, but just wanted to share that with you all.

Just to let you all know, I contacted the cosumer direct service and below is a copy of the e-mail back i got from them: Hope this helps!

Thank you for your enquiry to Consumer Direct dated 04/12/2009

Sorry to hear about this problem.

Based on the information you have provided, the key legal points in response to your enquiry are as follows:

This may help in the future, before you purchase anything from a trader via internet, first type their name www. in to this website: http://whois.domaintools.com/.

This will then usually tell you who registered the website and importantly where they are located. If the trader is based outside of the UK then unfortunately you would have little or no protection under UK law and would be bound by the laws of the country where the trader is located.

The details found from doing a whois search show the following:

    Administrative Contact:
    Name : wangmin
    Organization : wangmin
    Address : hubei
    City : wuhanshi
    Province/State : hubeisheng
    Country : china
    Postal Code : 430000
    Phone Number : 86-027-59523876
    Fax : 86-027-59523876
    Email :
    email.pgif?md5=0e1f11d182ae059309312d0811db7c55&face=arial&size=9&color=000000&bgcolor=FFFFFF&face=arial&size=9&color=0000FF&bgcolor=FFFFFF&format[]=underline&format[]=transparent&format[]=transparent

The seller is located in China.

You may wish to look at this link as a number of websites have been closed down by the police as part of a large operation, it may be that you purchased from one of these sites unfortunately http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/news/Hundreds-of-shopping-websites-closed.5883982.jp. We have not been given a list but if you find that the website is down then this may be an indication that this was one of the sites that the police closed down. The most practical advice I can give in this unfortunate situation is to contact your bank and see if they can claim a refund or do some sort of chargeback for you. It is worth a try.

    I hope this helps.

If you require any further advice or information about this case, please do not hesitate to contact Consumer Direct on 08454 04 05 06 quoting the case reference number.
    Thank you for your enquiry.

Good to know you can check sites through that other website. I'm definitely not careful enough when buying online
