Events in December and January

Hi guys, as I have previously discussed I'm participating in tough guy 2010 in wolverhampton at the end of january.

To help break up the monotony of running the same areas on my own from now till then I wouldn't mind getting some races in for each of these months.

Some 10k, 10mile, half marathon distances would be perfect. Ideally they would be in and around the north/north west area, monaghan, cavan, sligo, leitrim, roscommon, fermanagh.

I would even be willing to head to dublin if the event was worth while.

I have looked online to find some but can't see too many ( I know of the aware 10k) but some local races don't advertise themselves very well online so I was hoping you might know some.

I know there are some on xmas day/26th december in mayo but I would be in monaghan on xmas day and the following day so it would have to be in that general area.

I appreciate the suggestion but perhaps cork is a bit far for me to trek, although it could be informative for anyone else reading this thread.

    Yeah, was thinking that alright.

If you have somewhere to lay the head in Cork or Dublin the night before it'd be fine though. My mate is coming down from Derry to do it.

Meath Hill Running Championships and "Fun Run" in Mullaghmeen forest on 3rd Jan. Only a 5K but the hills might make up for that.

This one seems like a bit of fun, will have to look further into it and drag some of the lads along to it.

Getting there would be difficult, I have a car but I only applied for my driving test tonight and can't legally do it till december 3rd (have to have provisional for 6 months) I doubt I would have it by end of december but I'm gonna keep pestering them about cancellations.

Oh and I don't know any cork people, well except george hook and eddie hobbs (not personally though)

Organised by Navan AC. race start at 12 noon. Entries taken on the day at Claremont Stadium. Uses the 10Km course that the AAI 10K Championships ran over last April (2 x 5Km loop).

What days will most of these be on, going to be doing some extra hill work in the new year so might do a couple as training runs.
