Merc C220 CDI

Hi

I've a Merc C220 CDI and a rear parking bulb was in need replacement so I changed the bulb. after doing so the I now have 2 Error message on the display remained - See picture underneath. DO i need to have the error message cleared in a garage or what can i do

Error Message 1 (Light now working fine)



Error Message 2 ( Lamp is working fine )



Finally I'm looking to source the following head unit. Please see picture underneeth, this was damaged when i purchased the car. Can anyone advise of a replacement

Thank you for the advice, It looks like my problem with the errors can be resolved quite easily.

As for the headunit, I have a bid on the CD unit on ebay, let hope I win it, Wht do you think it is worth?

id say around the €80 mark incl p+p. depends if u really want an original headunit. another option is to buy a new facia surround and get a new headunit from somewhere like http://www.incarexpress.co.uk/ ive found them very good!

TBH voteforpedro I like the idea of having a unit that the remote control/steering wheel buttons work.

That unit on Ebay is getting saucy,It's almst €80 already. I may take a look around some scrap yards and see what the story is. I'm sure there has to be some around the place.

On the other hand I'd love to take out what's there and put in a new double din unit... Hmmm!

Hey POR you missed a good night out last Friday!

The bulb issue could be down to a poor contact as previous poster has suggested. However I have also found that cheaper bulbs will also set off a car's check computer. These things use electrical pulses & measure resistance, if it doesn't like the reading it will throw up the fault.
My fix was to buy a Bosch branded bulb, a soon as it was fitted the error disappeared. Sounds crazy but it worked, I just gave the perfectly working other branded bulb to someone else!

As for the display it might be worth giving these guys a call to see what they might be able to do:

If you do go down the route of a non-standard radio you can get an cable that will allow your Merc MFSW control a Pioneer head unit. However it may just work out more expensive than getting a replacement OEM one!!
I would say you will have to go higher than €80 even for an EBay unit. Check out the price of them new.:eek:

Maybe by a copy of one of the specialist Mercedes magazines, there's normally loads of specialists Merc breaker's yards list in the back of the magazine.
