I'm by no means a great player on average i finish somewhere in the middle of the table. But i would hazzard a guess at practice ,practice, practice.
But i would agree with the OP any tips would be great!

I've done the practise practise practise bit to death, pretty ok at the game at this stage, but I still get hammered by some Yanks usually that bounce around the place or camp in an area but never the exact same place in the area so when you go back to get them they have moved a bit and are waiting for you:mad: the fast jumpers and fast proners are usually very good as they are so hard to hit, it you get a good jumper-proner with juggernaut and an AK or hard hitting assault rifle they are pretty damn hard to mow down.
Keep to corners and low, use as much cover as possible, use ninja mode or some UAV blocker and use an assault rifle or powerful SMG.

This is a rather limited tip in practice, but couldn't not be more useful in the right situation. When you plant a bomb in Search and Destroy, plant a claymore on it too. You'll be amazed how often someone rushes in to defuse it, then... Blam! :)

From my general shooter experience, camping is usually a bad idea. IMO moving around constantly is essential if you want to stay alive and hit the high kill streaks. I see a lot of people camping in the caves on the Afghan map, and usually they survive for a kill or two until a player goes after him for payback. The killcam makes you a sitting duck.

so any ideas on any "strategy" to try and implement into games etc? you said the jump proners for example how do they do that?

By being tools, do not wish to emulate their idiocy....

+1 I agree, but they are bloody hard to hit.
Practise and the setup you have at home can help too, I sit around 3 feet from a 26" 1080p screen, stay still briefly as movement is easy to spot, but not too long or ur a sitting duck.

Personally I always do better when I use a silencer. And if you choose the running around option always try run by the edge of the maps for less chance of being caught.

    - Be smart in your movement, ie tactical especially up against a good team/clan. If there's a couple of guys around the corner don't go all guns blazing necessarily. Sometimes standing off is the best thing.

    - Jumping around a corner can give you a split second advantage over your enemy.

    - Cook your nades for godness sake. I threw 3 back in 1 match last night and got the kills.

    - Have one class containing a Stinger especially when playing with random people. Really amazingly stupid how people do not shoot down Chopper Gunner, UAV, Harrier etc.

In your Stinger Class Cold Blooded is essential, as obviously invisible to enemy radar and the air suppor.

    - Best tip, have a decent connection when playing. Oh how I despise Eircom, it's really messed up my K/D though I Still finish Top 3 usually with 2 bars :pac:

Not saying i approve of it but clearly its a decent way of surviving, id rather kill someone than die

edit>> i dont do this so dont be harsh.

I mainly play HQ & Domination so this is my main strategies for both

    Headquarters
I like to roam around the known respawn spots of the enemy picking them off as they appear. Its pretty handy for unlocking your Killstreaks fairly quick . Heartbeat Sensor & Silencer with Cold Blooded is vital for this tactic.

Have a class with a Riot Shield - if a game is fairly tight (or not) get yourself into the HQ & crouch in a corner , it will take at least 2 frag grenades to kill you by which stage u will either have the HQ captured or almost.

    Domination
The key to winning domination matches is defending B for as long as possible.Whichever team controls B the longest usually ends up winning. Each team will respawn at either A or C so unless the other team is fairly bad i rarely try & capture C (if we were respawning at A). Il usually wander between A & B defending them as much as possible. B is usually where all the action is anyway so this is where you can get the most kills.

all that and dont sprint everywhere especially into rooms and around corners.

Heartbeat sensor is your friend. Tells you what direction and how far away they are even thru walls :)

Yeah I used do this on WaW. Alot of the really good players seem to heavily use the radar. I found a camoflage perk with a silencer was great as they never saw you coming. I've also found scrambler to give a imilar advantage in MW2 hen coupled with silencer, thou some don't like scrambler. My sniper class has both cold blooded and ninja and they rarely see me coming (if only I were better with the sniper rifle :P)

heartbeat sensor is useless though if someone is using ninja?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 478 ✭✭CokaColumbo

I find that when I use the heartbeat sensor I take my eye off the radar much more often which is not good.

In team based games, follow in the general direction of your team if you're not familiar with the terrain. Sticking together will reduce your death-count and help you to overcome enemies.

    Familiarise yourself with the terrain!

Go easy. Move regularly, but don't sprint all around the map either...you'll only lose focus and direction.

DON'T GET ANGRY. Be cool. If you feel yourself getting annoyed, you will make stupid mistakes and you will damage your K-D ratio. Getting angry is a sign that you need to take a break.

Turn up the volume so foot steps are more audible.

If you think you suck, maybe you suck because the game type doesn't suit your style of play. I do well on Headquarters but do crap on Free-For-All.

I find that not that many people actually use ninja. But then when i get into a game i tend to keep an eye on what perks the people who kill me are using me and adjust my strategy to suit. deffo gotten better since is tarted paying attention to that

Yeah the heartbeat thing does distract from radar but i find it better than radar, especailly since its no affected by radar jamming

let a team mate run ahead of you and let them draw the other teams fire,so you can see where they are at

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 171 ✭✭Back Prince

first thing I make sure you do is get your guns sorted. If you playing games such as headquaters use a class like ump40 then stun gernades. As most of the combat will be close up its better to have a fast mobile gun rather than something like a scar or fal. Where as if your playing a bigger map like wasteland use guns like the scar and the fal as futher shots are easier due to the less recoil
Make sure you use your perks effectivly compaired to which game type your playing. If your playing search and destroy no matter what you will want to have cold blooded and ninja on as most people will use bling and have the heartbeat sensor on. If you playing headquaters, have perks such as hardline and sleight of hand on. No need for clod blooded as more than likely you will be killed each time there is a headquater.
Know your maps and spawn points. If your playing a map like highrise you know that enimies are going to be spawning in the buildings so if your team is spawning down one end try sneak into their spawn and get easy spawn kills suckers wont know what hit them.
Always check corners the look sussy. few shots into the corner of a building will let you know if anyone is camping.
Always be on the go. If you just sit there more than likey people will just blind fire into the corner ur in looking for payback and you have no chance of surviving. If your smart you just keep to a specific area and have a number fo spots and keep routating allowing you to sucker them in and get the free kill. And final thing never sprint going around corners or going into buildings more than likely people will be camping there and pick you off not giving you a chance to fire. O and think like a camp and go to regular camp spots and pick the feicers off. Hope some of this helps someone

This is how I play 'Catpure the Flag'.

    Equipment and Perks.
    Ump45 with silencer.
    PP2000 with silencer.

    Marathon
    Lightweight
    Ninja.

    Tactical Insertion.

    TACTICS:
Firstly, I will try to find a good location, usually well hidden behind the enemy flag and put the Tactical Insertion here.

Then in a simple way I basically terrorise that whole area around their flag to (A) clear campers, (B) create a distraction and (C) intercept an enemy if they are about to capture our flag.

And because I'm so fast (perk 1 & 2) and silent (Ninja Pro & Silencers), its very hard to deal with really.

I just played rundown and ran the show with 32 kills and 8 deaths. If this isnt usually your style, try it and give it a go a few times its great.

hi , this is my first post, i joined the boards basically to find other irish gamers that play the codmw2 game online. my psn name is the same as my name here so if u s want add me

to respond to the thread title
i play alot of FFA and 8 out of 10 times i am the winner, with TD you can try hard as u like , many game s i ve finished overall the best scoring player , but due to being on an inexperienced team or just an unlucky team u can lose
but basically my strategy is the same. take free-for-all
once i ve selected my class and know where i am spawning i always work out where the nearest person to me will be based on the usual spawning spots. i always keep a high rate of movement to areas where i know ppl will be coming from , ie. looking down from the escalators in terminal usually brings someone thats just spawned
corner approach, dont just run around the corner, lead with the cross hair s opening the view so that if a target comes , u cross it instantly and not chasing the screen,
reaction is a big thing , but that comes down to the person playing
plus, when i get killed , i usually know where the player that killed me was and more or less go back to get him/her running thru anyone on the way if i can.
then there is LUCK , how many times have u said to urself , how did i not die there or how th F*&K did he not die there i was shooting him first ForF*&K sake, F*&KIN B*ll*x :).
RADAR always keep an eye on the radar. for shootout and next target direction.
when i join a room i look at the scores from the last game and work out who is the player to beat....
i could write more but ye have probably fallen asleep to this by now :)

Like most multiplayer shooters whoever sees first will 90% of the time get the kill.

So I always leave to my team to engage their team(which usually happens) then try to find a way to sneak round and smash em from the back!

Also a great way to get those damn campers with some humiliating kills!:D

Reading these posts has me drooling to get back online, haven't been online in months now. Always a P.C. MP man before now, just got a PS3 and I haven't been online yet. Whats the difference between both formats in MP mode? Is the same fun to be has on the PS3 as there always was on the PC?
Regarding tactics, before my long lay off I was a pretty 'handy' player. Two things I never do - camp or use juggernaut. Juggernaut is my pet hate though because I don't see the point. Because if your crap enough to need extra life, just don't play. Noobs don't bother me if done with skill, but if a guy needs to point blank me - then my blood boils.
Snipers should always shoot and scoot, unless you want to lure a victim into a second or third kill haha. My favorite is camouflage for getting in amongst them. I usually go the opposite way of my team so when they're trying to flank, you've got maximum targets available. If you really want to make yourself the center of attention use camouflage and a knife hahaha. I need to get MW2 now!

heres one I use since day one on Domination

    Wasteland

once the game starts go straight for the B point but head to the house just before it (left hand side). GO to the far window to right of door, crouch and camp the B flag in the trench for an easy 1or2 kills
only if your team mates arnt dumb enough to cap it instead

Obviously use long range class on this map

I'd consider myself a pretty good player in TDM. Usually finish in top 2 or 3 of most games-sometimes runaway at the top, although do have my days where I can't get a kill for love nor money.

The way I play is just to keep moving around. If you think you've found a good spot, it'll be great for two kills maybe until someone comes looking for you and then you'll be killed.

I can't stress this enough, always reload when you get a chance, if I'm on a run, I always pop into cover, quick reload and then back out again. The amount of times I've fragged people purely because they're stuck reloading is quite high.

Don't bother with heartbeat sensor, it seems handy enough, but generally as soon as you notice someone is near you, they've probably already shot you.

The best perk imo is the UAV block. The amount of UAVs being called in TDM is huge, so it's great to be off it, as it means if you're out on you're own enemies will sprint around with their guard down.

Don't bother with the UAV scrambler, as it alerts players that an enemy is near and people forget this. As soon as my radar goes fuzzy i get into a corner and wait as the fuzzyness gets more prominent then I get them easy.

That's what I was gonna post. When I first saw the perk I thought it looked great, after it being used against me I realised that it's possibly the worst perk in the game.

Yeah I didn't think of that actually. It really is the worst perk in the game, almost like a negative perk.

You are much better going silenced and cold blooded!!! I have unlocked scrambler pro so can't say much...:) in small map (such as rust 1v1) it is an excellent perk but in large maps it is a disadvantage in most situations!
