some dirty scummer robbed my mudguards yesterday, anyway i was pissed off and got a wet arse on the way to college. however to add insult to injury i always lock my Ulock through the seat tube and rear wheel (the expensive one) i reckon that who ever it was reefed the bike back and forward to try and get the lock off cos i now have a couple of broken spokes and an out of line wheel,

help i'm still super pissed off.

And lo, it was foreseen thus.

I know that that's a very clever and effective way to lock a bike, particularly if you've got a small ulock, but I always suspect that given the IQ and spacial ability of the average 14-year-old heroin-addict / bike-thief they'd take a long time to realise that they can neither steal the frame nor the rear wheel, and then spend a long time kicking the **** out of your bike for playing a cruel trick on them with your cunning locking technique. I think a bike shouldn't just be locked securely, it should be locked securely and obviously to avoid these little misunderstandings.

Sorry to hear that Neil. It makes me sick that you can't own something expensive in this country without being afraid to leave it out of your sight.

I think the OP included the seat tube as well as rear wheel in his lock technique though, no? Still, if the point is just the sheer idiocy of bike thieves, there's a lesson there alright.

Is there a law that says it's OK to show a photograph of people in public having fun, but if one of them appears to be committing a crime then you have to paste over the face?

Why not re-title the image "artistic photo of campus scene", put back in the face, and leave out any allegations that he's trying to steal your bicycle?
