About the only good things about the prequels was the music that John Williams did for the Phantom Menace.. can't really recall any great tunes from the other 2 though.

Can't say the music would excite me that much

meh, although I think John Williams' original score is a masterpiece, forking out a minimum €70 would make me baulk, sure all you need is a decent pair of headphones.
If it was a back catalogue of his classic film scores then I'd be there

George Lucas' Star Wars cash cow rolls on!!!!

Yeah because listening to them on your own stereo is the same as hearing it being played live by a 100 piece orchestra with a 3 storey HD screen behind them showing clips of the movies

you don't have Bose headphones then :D
no way i'm giving lucas more moneynow if Howard Shore came with a 100 piece orchestra playing Lord of the Rings then i'd be there.

Yeah because LOTR hasnt milked every drop of money out of its fans that it can, about a dozen versions on dvd, the multiple blu-rays that have been announced, standard and deluxe and super deluxe versions of the scores, tie ins, merchandise, LOTR and SW are pretty much on par with the spin off merchandise, yet Lucas is the one always accused of being the money grabber

An peeps, I'm a huge Star Wars fan and a moderate LOTR fan. Lets not turn this into a SW vs LOTR thing.
Can't we all just get along. :)

I love LOTR too, but it just annoys me that Lucas is constantly bashed for "milking it" while Jackson does the exact same thing and gets away with it, they did do a series of LOTR concerts as well was that "a cash cow" or just giving the fans something they wanted to see?

Peter Jackson does not own any rights on the LOTR series. Didn't he have to sue New Line for a cut of the profits. Basically, they shafted him on the proceeds. If anyone is milking LOTR then it's New Line.

There was a LOTR musical but that was independent. Wasn't too good either.
I agree that the release of the trilogy (LOTR) on Blu-Ray could be achieved on a single disc but as it's released seperately it does smack of milking. The constant re-issues, special editions, deluxe box sets, exclusive scenes etc have ruined the mythology of Star Wars for me personally. It was fine as a child but as an adult I just now see it as a commodity.

I actually liked the soundtracks to 1-3 much more than the original trilogy, because they contain all the 'important' songs, and have a new range of songs.

There was a DVD released with the Episode III OST, "Star Wars : A Musical Journey", which made videos alongside the main themes of all the star wars films. I'd recommend it if you're a star wars fan...the music is sublime.

Best youtube link I could find.

Anyway, I find the Episode III OST to be the best of the 6. I love "Duel of the Fates", Grievous' theme, reprisals of the force theme etc, and the last 4 tracks are beautiful, tying up motifs from the entire saga. Amazing.

I adore the soundtracks, I've paid in the region of €100 for them over the years, but €70 minimum is taking the piss, and no John Williams to conduct the orchestra?! No thanks Lucasfilm.

    Wow
Seems great would love it but think 70blip is a bit expensive when you don't even have the master himself!

Im a huge SW fan and Huge LOTR fan but if both were on and both charging 70 quid i think a nice set of headphones costing 70 would be better spent!

With regards the music i love the prequels music i love the music over the darth maul fight in phantom menace went and bought that soundtrack because of it.

If it was john William's 70min would be well spent

I don't understand what a conductor does (I'm quite ignorant that way) but since it's the London Symphony Orchestra, who played with Williams, and they have the sheetwork I don't understand (or my common ears won't be able to tell the difference between) which conductor. Is it really that big a deal?

The 70 euro tickets were too far away and I'm not paying over 100 euros so I compromised at 80. I imagine that even though that's quite expensive, any concert costs at least 50-60 euro...I really want to go...so... :o:)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,788 ✭✭✭✭krudler

I tried to get presale tickets but that stupid ****ing ticketmaster site just kept offering me literall the same 2 seats for a good 20 mins, and they're in the 106.00 price range, the 80 quid ones will do me fine so I'll get them Friday when they go on general sale, i cant imagine itll sell out that quickly at those prices, and whats with the "service charge", I'm booking them online and printing out the tickets myself! ticketbastard more like

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,013 ✭✭✭✭jaykhunter

I couldn't bring myself to pay over 100 euros either...Did you change 'pricing plans'? Ya, I really doubt a classical concert would come close to selling out

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,788 ✭✭✭✭krudler

Got 2 tickets in Block E, 15th row right on the aisle so happy enough with that, couldnt justify spending an extra 40 quid just to sit a few ros closer, besides the flat seats you'll have peoples big heads in the way and be lower than the screens, id rather be looking straight at them like in a cinema, cant wait for this, the clips of it on youtube of the London shows look fantastic:
