If i use my car with an out of date tax disc would I receive any penalty points.

I just bought a new car, the tax was out 08/09 I sent my form into tax office on Monday, so I'm sure it's all paid for and I'm just waiting for the disc to arrive.

My problem is I need to use the car to transport some things and have to cancel my train ticket Dub-Cork.

How are the Garda dealing with out of date tax, is there any fine or points, etc. I have insurance disc so no problem there.

    Thanks.

    :)

stick your receipt and any other papers that show you just bought it in the windscreen where they can be seen and you should be OK for a few days....

There is a fine for non-display of tax disk (doesn't matter if it's taxed or not, it's whether it's in the windscreen), but there are no points for no tax disk/no tax.

Thank you both for the reply.

Thankfully the disc arrived in the post this morning, so I'll be legal. :)
