Can anyone recommend a good pair of lycra shorts with the pad for under €50?

I was gonna go with these http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=35114. Anyone familiar with their sizes? I’m 32”waist 34” leg, so was going to go with the medium?

Should I get the bib shorts? I’m new to the whole lyrca thing and although it may sound silly, i’m not sure i’m ready for the bib thing yet :)

    thanks

    Yes, definitely.

Bib shorts are generally sized based on your height, not waist size.

Yes, get bib shorts, they are more comfortable. You put the straps under your cycling jersey so it is not as if anyone would know one way or the other. Size-wise you sound reasonably close to me, I tend to generally go L, in some shorts though I am M and have bought Italian stuff in L before which was too small in height. With bib shorts in particular it is really more to do with your height than waist as the straps need to be long enough (I am 6ft.)

+1 for bibshorts for reasons others stated plus they work well in winter under tights to stop draughts and give an extra layer around kidneys.

I got a pair of Polaris bibshorts and a winter jersey for 67 euros in halfords sale a while back.(Buy 1 get second half price. They do this now and again). They are surprisingly good. You can try stuff on there also.

Sorry if this sounds too stupid!
What is the best way of 'maintaining' cycling shorts/leggings? I have a few pairs of cycling shorts so would always just wear them once then wash however i have only started wearing leggings this week so see if i would like them so i only bought one pair. I know if i continue to use them ( which i will as they are so comfy in the cold!!) i will get a couple of more pairs but i wondered if it is normal to wash them after every wash?

Not stupid at all. I use cold delicates wash and tiny bit of detergent as soon as I take em off. They look good as new for ages this way.

Most modern technical fabrics need gentle washing and drip dry or they start to look shabby fast in my experience.

I wear underwear for shorter cycles such as my commute, anything up to 50km or so. So don't wash after each use.

As for washing I just send them up the laundry with everything else, never had a problem.

Are CRC the best for the clothing or can anybody recommend other sites for both jerseys and bibs. Would it be possible to post links of items of that are recommended.

The choice is huge and I end up looking at loads but buy nothing. I like the Santini gear but know nothing of the quality.

    Thanks in advance.

I have bought much in the way of clothes from www.wiggle.co.uk and www.probikekit.com.

www.prendas.co.uk is the place to go for team stuff/vintage reproductions.

Santini is excellent quality and very often cheaper than the other Italian brands. I've used Santini jerseys, bibshorts and tights and can recommend them all.
    It's also Euro-compliant.

besides good brands, the most important thing is the fit!!

i had a pair of leggings before that where just that bit too tight, and to say i had sore balls, would be an understatement

never skimp when it comes to ball protection!!

im saving up for some assos, with my current money situation, ill easily have a pair by christmas

    2020 :p
