Ring your local tax office and ask them to do a review for the past four years for you to see if your due anything back. You probably cant claim anythin back for living with you parents. Fill in a Med 1 for the year the medical expnses occured in, once its in the past 4 yrs you should be entitled to claim something back provided you were paying tax in that year. Or just register with PAYE online to claim all your credits/medical expenses/request reviews etc

Hi, I'd get your claim in for the operation sooner rather than later. If you had it in 2005, you'll only have until the end of the year to claim relief. You may be able to claim rent relief for rent payable upto 2007, but Revenue may ask you for a list breaking down exactly how much of whats handed up refers to rent, to food, to light/heat etc.

Your parents will be considered as self assessed from 2007 onwards, as rent payable to your parents is no longer income that can be returned as rent a room income ( up to €10000 per year can be taken tax free under this). So, in all, the tax your parents may be liabile for on the rental income may be greater tahn the actual rent relief tax credit, and more often than not, its too much hassle claiming this.

I hope all this makes sense!
