    Hi all,
Just need to get bodywork done as soon as possible on the mini. The kit has come off it, and unfortunatley, alot of the paint has too, aswell as a few holes and general untidyness. I want to get this fixes ASAP. Anyone recommened anywhere in Dublin that can do this? Basically, sanded down, and painted. The worst is on the front wings and A panels. Dependant on cost, I may even go with new wings and panels and get them sprayed.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Right, been onto carcraft. Probably drop up to them on Saturday morning. Anyone have any dealings with them before?

    Thanks

I have dealt with them before, never again.
Lets just say I wouldn't thrust them to take a dent out a can of beans.

Had to have all their work redone at my expense.

    Never dealt with them before.

If I was getting work done on my own car, I'd go to Smyth and Branigan in Lucan. They've done good work on cars for me in the past, although are a little on the expensive side.

i recently got work done with Ace Autobody in Finglas, really happy with the job, very professional and was cheaper than a few other quotes i got. They even threw in a courtesy car which no-one else offered.

I got a scrape sorted by carcraft near Fairview (I think they might have a second place as well). i found them straight forward and professional to deal with, but mine was a much smaller job than you're planning. They'll call out to your house to give you a quote if you want to see what they say.

I've no connection to carcraft by the way.

I never heard of them before, but just found out I live literally one minute from them (the other side of the rounabout where they are :o)

side of my fiesta recently had an altercation with a concrete pillar.

good 3 x 1 inch of paint taken off the rear wheel arch when a dent to match, door had three nasty scrapes with dents too.

got a few quotes, carcraft in Fairview gave me the best price and the repair job was fautless.

AC Cars on Donore Ave off the SCR did a peachy job on my keyed & stone-chipped chariot. Plus was offered a courtesy car in the price though I didn't need it and they're a Beemer/Mini specialist. Definitely shop around & compare/challenge quotes though.

    How is it corrosion wise?

If you need to factor in the cost of, say, a new front valance, that may push things up.

OTOH (it is a mini, and they dissolve like solpadol), you don't want them loading it with filler either.

Body kits can be nasty water traps.

During a recent and unjustified ban I read the forum charter.
Just want to backup the statement I made above re carcraft.
A few years back I needed a very simple repair done on a rear quarter panel.
Choose carcraft on price and they are close to where I work.
Dropped car off in morning, went to collect that afternoon.
Straight away I could see the color was not a match.
Manager agreed and said they would redo work but would have to wait until paint had fully hardened. No problem there and agreed to return with car the following week. Went home in my multi colored car. Dropped car back a week later and returned to collect that evening.
    Horrified with what I say.
They resprayed panel next to rear quarter despite me telling them implicitly not to.
I understand the need to blend in new paint but this was only necessary due to the original botched job.
Dozens of tiny holes in rear quarter panel.
    Paint looked really funny.
Told manager I was extremley unhappy with workmanship but he said that after already redoing work there was no money in the job and pretty much told me not to come back.
Noticed a guy working on cars with such a severe black eye he had no vision out of it whatsoever, wondered if it was him who worked on my car?

Had the car inspected by a motor engineer and his comments where:
Pitting on rear quarter probably caused by paint being attacked by silicone.
Suggested they probably do car valeting in the same area as painting.
Orange peel effect caused by surface not being cleaned properly prior to painting.
Overspray on my wheels, adjoining panels and rubber seals.

Upshot was I had to have the entire side of my car resprayed at a professional repair center out of my own pocket.

You pay cheap you get cheap.

+1 on Carcraft. They have a new workshop quite close to their old one which is far better (auto spray booth etc). I had a colour restoration and some scratches removed with them recently and the work was good.
