    Hi All,

I have just painted my bedroom (walls) in an Antique White paint colour and am looking for some advice on what colour I should use to paint / complement the trimmings in the room such as the skirting board, door frame, window frame etc. I have tested some colours such as Honey Cream and Courtyard cream and am not that happy with them.

It's an old house and that I am looking for a classic antique look for the room.

    Thanks.

I'd suggest 'Skimming Stone' or 'French Gray' by Farrow and Ball. I I have skimming stone on my walls, with old white skirting and trimmings, very classical look, which I twisted up with modern furniture. I could visualise the reverse.
I just checked Farrow & Balls website and the sample they show of Skimming Stone is absolutely nothing what it is like in RL. Order a paint brochure from them maybe, they do lovely soft chalky matt tones. Check out the neutral section on their website, although get a brochure also. They do all the range in tester pots.
    Best of luck!!

Thanks for the advice. It certainly sounds like the look I am after. I will check out the F&B website and get some testers.

    Thanks again.

I would be cautious using a colour like skimming stone (gorgeous colour btw) to match with a colour like antique white. Antique white has a certain freshness/creamy white to it and a grey based colour like skimming stone won't go. Colours like skimming stone and old white are beautiful shades but they come from a grey base and would only go with wall colours that come from the same tone. Soft greys are beautiful but if your wall colour is the fresh Antique White that I'm thinking of it just won't go.
Do you want to go a similar shade or a shade darker??
Honey Cream doesn't go as it comes from a peach/apricot base and courtyard cream (if I'm thinking of the right colour is just too dark)

French white from colourtrend dries like a light beige
