I hope there are no wierd decisions in this weeks event.

Forrest really needs a win however Tito looks like he is in great shape (obv only commenting from preview of fight video) and I think he should take it assuming his back is 100%.

Rumble Johnson looked great in his quick KO last time out, (did he make weight for that fight can't remember) I'd say this could be fight of the night.

Looking forward to this card Baroni back in the UFC, Marcus back and like watching Kendall Grove so hopefully should be a good night of quality MMA.

Tough call but I would go for forrest.

I just think he will be hungrier for it.

I have noticed that ring rust has been a major factor in many UFC Main Events of note.

    Couture is not the same.

    Shogun was appaling in Dublin.

    Griffin sucked against Silva.

On this basis I think Tito will struggle after 3 1/2 years of non-competition.

My pick of the weekend is Hazelett to beat Parisyan at 10/11 from Paddy Power - safe easy money. Parisyan is a troubled man and I don't think has the fight in him. A shame because he used to be very dynamic and exciting.

No Johnson didn't make weight, he weighed in at 176 lbs. I don't think he'll make the weight for this fight either, he's too big for welterweight.

I think Tito will win by the way.

What happens when a fighter doesnt make weight?, the fight doesnt count on their record or something along those lines?

What happens when a fighter doesnt make weight?, the fight doesnt count on their record or something along those lines?

They surrender 20% of their fight purse to the opponent and 9/10 if you don't win the match you get cut.
Examples are Mike Ciesnolevicz against Tomas Drwal
Josh Neer vs Gleison Tibau (Both over)
    Hermes Franca vs Tyson Griffin
This is the second time Rumble hasn't made weight. First was against Clementi then Yoshida. In fairness it takes a hell of alot of effort to cut from 220 down to 170. That was his cut last time. Only thing in his favour this time is at fight time he was about 190 against Yoshida so if he went straight back into he might get it off.
IMO Rumble is a natural 185r now.

On this basis I think Tito will struggle after 3 1/2 years of non-competition.

Tito last fought in May 08, his first fight with Forrest was 3.5 years ago and he has had another 5 fights since then.
What happens when a fighter doesnt make weight?, the fight doesnt count on their record or something along those lines?

If your opponent agrees to fight you they get a % of your purse for the fight and the state athletic commission also get a % of your purse. If it was supposed to be a title fight it becomes a non title fight, like Anderson Silva v Travis Lutter.

If he fails this time I can't see Dana letting him stay at 170. I think he would still be a force at 185 put wants to stay and try to boss the 170 boys.

Id say that was less ring rust and more Silva being much much better and Couture is just getting too old.Shogun was just ring rust and probably taking Coleman very lightly

    Anyway my picks
    Tito Ortiz vs. Forrest Griffin
    Josh Koscheck vs. Anthony Johnson
    Amir Sadollah vs. Phil Baroni
Luiz Cane vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira
    Karo Parisyan vs. Dustin Hazelett

Watch UFC 104 and entrance of Johnson and Rogan commentating saying he got as high as 220 before he cut for the fight against Yoshida plus Johnson admitted it after the fight in the post fight press conference on UFC.com. Said he'd never get that big before cut again as he normally cuts from 200/205 down.
By cut I mean not in the 24hrs before weigh ins but over the course of his camp to get down to fight weight which he didn't make last time. It is impossible to cut 50lbs in 24hrs.

More importantly, why the hell are we not getting the 2 prelim fights that are free on Spike TV? Last time they showed on ESPN before the main show. This sucks, I wanna see the Davis fight.

Really do not want to say I told you so.... terrible news for Karo and fans hoping to see a decent grappling contest.
