Why does everyone love football here? (I know not everyone, but christ it feels like it).
Is it because of the whole Italia 90 thing? Or does it go back further? Why are less bothered about Rugby for instance? Ireland are doing much better in this than Football. I don't get it. Boring game in comparison.

    Football or soccer?

In the case of the former - I have no idea, it's a crap game with no tackling rules, 100's of free kicks and mad bogmen.

In the case of the latter - I have no idea, it's a crap game with ladyboys and grannyshaggers who all get paid too much.

    Sorry, what was the question?

There's an aesthetic about football that seems to have a worldwide appeal.
It's also a useful outlet for patriotic and tribal tendencies.
    Also IBTL.

Because jumpers for goalposts works........... jumpers for uprights doesn't.

I'm not ranting or raving, just wondering why people here go on about more than any other sport. What's the appeal?

Football is not just a matter of life and death: it's much more important than that - Bill Shankly.

    C'mon Ireland!

Soccer, more commonly known as 'football' where I am from (not from the bog ;) but I call that Gaelic)
