medical card and health costs

    hi all,

bit confused at the moment. generally about our health care system, private and public, and health insurance. i was just wondering what does a medical card cover you for? i know it means trips to doctor and dentist free but does it cover everything your doctor or dentist will want to do to you?

but then i'm confused again because i thought we had a free health care system anyway? as in its not the american one anyway. but then its not free free like in england. so what do you have to pay for? if your ordinary person gets cancer or a hearth attack or in a car crash and they've no insurance do you have to pay for treatment? and would everything be free if they had a medical card?

    thank you
