supposed to be paid on the 1st of december , but whether that is when the process starts and it could be a few days before we get it iykwim

Supposed to be paid after 1st Dec but with cash so scarce in the Dept it could be a week or 10 days before it hits the bank accounts. Also anyone unfortunate enough to be pulled for an inspection or to have unresolved queries will have to wait longer

thank god wolves from door and all that.... anyone know whats the story with reps payment for 2009 applicants?

It's noticable in most threads relating to farm payments and subsidies of all kinds, that a high percentage of posters seem to be in need of these cheques to pay outstanding bills, etc,.

Makes me wonder does anybody at all make any money with positive cash flow from the underlying business of farming?
Looking at my own situation and general stats from farmers and general comments such as mentioned above, it makes me think that instead of investing in fancy slatted accomodation, tractors and machinery to produce the numbers of stock we all collectively produce at loss or near loss making prices, we would be better off financially with little or no investment in fixed overheads and producing less animals with the consequence that Mr Goodman at al, would have to pay us a proper price!!!

Are there too many of us acting as busy fools??

I don't think people are that niave to be honest. personally I've been striving towards a life without subsides, but part of that is investing what cash is available currently to get where you need to be, if that be fencing, buildings or stock changes. Think over the next few years there will be a big drop in on farm investment, but think the current availability of subsides is driving the current investment.... maybe I'm way off the mark:)
