Where is the power steering reservoir on '04 Diesel X5 3.0D?
It's not mentioned at all in the manual.
There are many guides to where it is on the petrol engines on roadfly etc but unless I'm going completely blind they seem to have it really well-hidden on the Diesel version.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I know nothing about the particular vehicle, but
[a] ring a BMW dealer and ask them [I'm assuming its a BMW X5.....]
look for all translucent plastic containers with prob. black screw-top lids in the engiine compartment [maybe you've already done this]
[c] find the PS pump [prob a dedicated belt off the crank pulley] and follow the pipes

This website suggests drivers side for the 2002 X5:
    http://www.justanswer.com/questions/1fzvb-power-steering-fluid-reservoir

and it might look like this:
    http://bmwpartsonly.com/OEM-Parts/2002-BMW-X5-3.0-%28E53%29-M54-3.0-Chassis&Steering-PSKits,Filter,Parts&Seals-Power-Steering-Fluid-Reservoir.html

Bear in mind these are US sites so the X5 may not be the same but I presume the bits and bobs will be reasonably similar even on an 04 model.

Hi Shaywest. Thanks for that, man. It's kind of "built-in" to the engine block on the diesel engine. I was looking in vain for a separate bottle. Much appreciated!
