    Its not an answer to your question- but if you look at the demographics of adoption in Ireland (you'll find it in the Annual Report of the Adoption Authority)- Adoption peaked in 1973-1974 (which coincides with legislation which enabled single mothers to claim social welfare benefits including children's benefit for the first time). There is small amounts of indigenous adoption even to this day- but its between 20 and 30 cases per annum, and mostly by members of an adopted person's extended family. Intercountry adoption has only really started to feature in the last 10-12 years.

    So- there are adopted people aged 16-19 out there- just not very many of them......
