42 plasma suddenly died

I have a 42 inch plasma tv, have it just over the 3 year mark (which is lovely because the guarantee lasts for three years.)... great timing. :/

But just yesterday it's stopped working. My wife wasn't at home at the time but when she got back home the trip switch was flicked (so i presume the power had gone off for a while). The tv was switched off at the time, so I thought it should not affect it.

I thought it may be the fuse, but changed that and still nothing.
Is my tv wrecked? Anyone ever have a similar problem?

process of elimination - use a different power cable that you know IS WORKING, and then a different socket. if it has a separate media box do the same with that. if that fails, then it unfortunately might be the TV power board. i work with Panasonic & Pioneer and if its just outside the warranty they're usually sound enough so dont rule out guarantee work

    Thanks for the reply adam.

Yes i've already tried the obvious thing, checked different sockets, plugs, changed the fuse on the plug, but no joy anywhere.

It seems completely dead. It seems as though its just not getting power, but I'm pretty sure if checked everything from that end.

Have you seen this happen to tvs before where they just 'die' from a power surge?

The tv was off at the time too.. if that makes any difference

yes sometimes it can happen even when turned off. thats why ideally you should unplug your equipment when not in use. hopefully its just a power board that damaged and it hasnt spread any further into the tv
